MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin health officials reported the fewest new coronavirus cases in nearly two months on Monday, but the total number of tests completed was the second-fewest in nearly three months.
The state Department of Health Services said there were 392 new positive tests on Monday, the lowest number since June 29. There were also 4,473 negative tests. The total number of tests done was up slightly from Sunday’s report, which was the lowest since June 1.
The 8.1% positive rate was slightly above the seven-day average of 8%. The seven-day average of new cases fell to 665.
No new deaths were reported to DHS for the second day in a row. It was the first stretch of back-to-back days without a reported death since July 12-13. The overall death toll remained at 1,081, with the average for the past seven days remaining at six.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 70,854 confirmed cases of coronavirus. DHS lists 62,310 people as having recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Hospitalization data had not yet been updated for the day by early afternoon.
