WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – A Wausau mother is facing criminal charges in connection with the death of her 3-month-old baby.
A police report says Shailey M. Huron, 23, slept with her infant son and woke up to find him non-responsive.
An investigation says Huron invited two men to her home on March 29 for a night of drinking and marijuana use. The child was place in bed with them and was found asphyxiated the following morning.
She is charged with child neglect resulting in death. During her initial appearance, Huron’s bond was set at $50,000 with the first $500 in cash. She will return to court on September 22nd for a preliminary hearing.
A police investigation says Huron was warned by a hospital nurse, a pediatrician and a public health nurse that it was dangerous to sleep with her child.
