MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers made a roster move on Thursday to help jump-start their struggling offense.
Milwaukee designated first baseman Justin Smoak for assignment and picked up Dan Vogelbach after he was waived by Toronto.
The 33 year old Smoak was only hitting .186 and was just one for his last 21. Jedd Gyorko is expected to get most of the at bats at first base. He has the best OBP on the team.
The Brewers hope Vogelbach can regain his home run stroke of a couple of years ago.
The Brewers return to action tonight with an interleague game at Cleveland. Pre game show at 5:35 on WSAU.
