One of the sad things about our streaming musical culture is the lost art of both liner notes and LP cover art. Those of a certain age spent hours (this was pre-internet and smart phones, youngsters) perusing the covers (both back and front) of every LP that came into our hands. The liner notes, many times written by noted musical journalists, could be expansive or cryptic. And the artwork or photographs on the cover could be serious or whimsical. But they were almost always artful. Suitable for framing. As meaningful to us as any Rembrandt or Van Gogh.
Two albums with great cover art were released on this date in 1975.
On the same date Pink Floyd released this one…
What was your favorite LP cover. Here are some classics of mine…
I’m sure you can come up with a thousand others….
Also on this date in 1979 Bob Dylan released his first “religious” LP. Even though most fans were confused by this direction, the LP did include some good music including the title track…couldnt find the studio version online so this will have to do.
Some good news for Bucks fans….
According to reports, the Bucks told reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo they are willing to spend into the luxury tax in order to invest in stronger supporting players. Giannis met with Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry to talk about the disappointing end to this season and how they can improve. This offseason, Antetokounmpo can sign an extension or head into the final year of his contract and enter free agency in 2021.

“There is no question that umpires have had bigger strike zones this season, in general. They had to have been told to try to move games along. It’s been all about getting teams off the field as soon as possible.”-Tom Haudricourt
Actor Tom Hardy turns 43 today. You may best know him from Inception or Mad Max Fury Road or as Bane in the Dark Knight Rises…but he has done some brilliant work in a bunch of movies and TV shows. He had a great turn as a Jewish gangster in Peaky Blinders and also starred in this historical drama that unfortunately disappeared after one season…see if you can find it…its weird and good…
