MOSINEE, WI (WSAU) – President Donald Trump spoke to a large, enthusiastic crowd at Central Wisconsin Airport on Thursday night.
The President took aim at opponent Joe Biden, saying that Biden would raise taxes and would cater to the radical, political left. “If Biden wins, China wins. If Biden wins, the mob wins. Anarchists win. Flag burners win,” Trump said.
The President also said Wisconsin’s economy was thriving under his Administration before COVID-19 struck. “Last year was your best year ever,” he told the crowd. “And next year will be even better.” Trump also touted new manufacturing jobs, and help for dairy farmers against unfair milk tariffs from Canada.
Trump also touted a COVID-19 vaccine, saying new developments “are just around the corner… in a matter of weeks.”
He also said his phone call to Big Ten officials helped to re-start the college football season. He referenced Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez, saying “he’s been terrific.”
The Biden campaign issued a statement shortly after the rally: “While Wisconsin set a daily record of more than 2,000 new positive COVID-19 cases — and with numerous Wisconsin cities now having some of the fastest-growing caseloads in the country — President Trump hosted a rally with little-to-no social distancing. We are eight months into this pandemic and Trump still has no plan to get it under control.”
It was Trump’s fifth visit to Wisconsin. Vice President Mike Pence, who was in Janesville earlier this week, will be back for a campaign appearance in Eau Claire next Thursday.
