Travis Greil
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A former D.C. Everest teacher accused of secretly taking inappropriate photos of female students has entered a not guilty plea to state charges.
Travis Greil entered the plea Tuesday morning in Marathon County court during a remote appearance from his Dane County jail cell. He faces nearly 40 state counts of child exploitation, possession of child pornography, and invading privacy stemming from his days as a teacher at the school.
Greil is accused of using a strategically placed iPad to capture videos and photos under female student’s clothing, a practice called “upskirting.”
Following the plea, Judge Suzanne O’Neil set a final pre-trial conference for April 9th, 2021. The extended timeline allows for both parties to go over what the court calls “massive amounts of discovery,” or materials related to the case.
Additionally, Greil is facing federal charges in the District Court for Western Wisconsin, which is why he is being held in Dane County.
Court records indicate Greil’s wife filed for divorce shortly after the allegations came to light in February. That case is now closed.
