MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — Governor Tony Evers is shrugging off a Tuesday lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump that aims to dispute the results of the 2020 Presidential Election.
Evers was asked his thoughts on the lawsuit during a media briefing on Tuesday.
“To be frank…I believe the lawsuit filed by the President of the United States has no merit,” said Evers.
Evers argued that state election officials did a good job ensuring a “free” and “fair” election in the state, even in the middle of a pandemic.
“Numbers don’t lie,” Evers said. “I personally carried out my duty [in certifying the election]…following the law and procedures that were done four years ago that nobody had a problem with then, [but] this time they do.”
The lawsuit intends to challenge the legality of the absentee voting procedures used throughout the state, specifically whether or not ballots with incomplete voter certification information should be counted.
