WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A woman will spend life in prison for killing her child after giving birth in 2019.
Marylinn Feher was sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility after serving 30 years Wednesday afternoon. Feher pleaded guilty to a charge of 1st-degree intentional homicide back in September after taking a plea deal to dismiss a charge of neglecting a child. Both charges were considered for her sentencing on Wednesday.
Officers say Feher gave birth to a boy while in her Milladore home before her and her boyfriend, Allan Rice, wrapped him in a blanket then tied him in a plastic bag. The couple then drove to Marshfield Medical Center to have Feher checked out.
Physicians at the hospital called police to report that they had a patient that appeared to have given birth, but they were unsure where the baby was. Officers found the baby in the back of Rice’s vehicle and rushed him inside, but he later died from his injuries.
Feher later admitted to strangling the child and hitting his head on a toilet after giving birth. Court records show the boy had injuries on his head and neck. The child, who authorities say was named Zacharia, lived for about 16 hours. Officers add that during her interview Feher referred to the baby boy as “it” and “thing.”
Rice is also facing charges of neglecting a child and resisting or obstructing an officer in the case. He will return to court on December 11th for a plea hearing.
