MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — COVID-19 surge testing at select UW System campuses will continue until at least Christmas.
UW System announced Monday the 22 sites across the state will extend operations, which were anticipated to end around mid-December.
“I applaud President Thompson, our chancellors, and all of the staff who have contributed to the success of these surge testing sites,” UW System Board of Regents President Andrew S. Petersen said in a news release. “We are pleased to provide this service to the people of Wisconsin at this difficult time and know it is making a difference.”
The sites, which launched in early November, provide free rapid tests, with results available in about 15 minutes.
As of Monday, about 100,000 rapid tests have been administered, according to the system.
Those who wish to be tested should register online.
