The search for President-elect Biden’s U.S. Secretary of Agriculture is ongoing, but according to numerous reports, he’s likely to choose Tom Vilsack. Vilsack is the former governor of Iowa and was our 30th Ag Secretary who served in that position from 2009 to 2018. He’s currently head of the U.S. Dairy Export Council.
Biden also considered Ohio Representative Marcia Fudge for the USDA position, but decided she’d be better as lead of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Fudge would’ve been the first African American to head USDA.
