MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Wisconsin’s coronavirus averages continued their fall on Friday, while testing remained lower and deaths approached 4,000.
The state Department of Health Services reported 3,858 new confirmed cases, or 34.9% of the 11,045 total tests completed. Another 47 people died of complications of COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Seven-day averages moved to 3,628 new cases, 28.1% test positivity and 52 deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 429,957 total cases, more than 2.2 million negative tests and 3,991 deaths. DHS considers 369,821 people to have recovered from COVID-19.
As of Friday morning, there were nine patients at the state’s alternate care facility near Milwaukee, one fewer than on Thursday.
Overall hospitalization numbers are expected to be updated later Friday afternoon.
