Tom Vilsack is the former governor of Iowa, the former U.S. Secretary of Ag during the Obama administration, and is currently CEO of the U.S. Dairy Export Council. With a long resume of impressive positions throughout his career, he has been chosen to return to the White House for the Biden administration as the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. If everything goes as planned, Vilsack will be taking over for our current U.S. Secretary of Ag, Sonny Perdue.
Many ag groups are excited to see what’s instore for agriculture with Vilsack back in the Ag Secretary position. Some of the groups that have spoken in favor of Vilsack are the Nation Pork Producers, National Corn Growers, the American Farm Bureau Federation, and the American Coalition for Ethanol.
At the end of last week it was announced that USDEC’s chief operating officer Krysta Harden will be taking over as CEO of the U.S. Dairy Export Council.
