TOWN OF SPENCER, WI (WSAU) — A homicide investigation has begun after a body was discovered in the Town of Spencer on Tuesday.
Trappers working near Abe Lincoln Ave and Swamp Road reported the body to Sheriff’s officials Tuesday morning. Officers determined that evidence points to the body being dumped.
Officers are also asking for information about a black 2005 Chevy Impala with Wisconsin license plate AHT-6900. It is believed that the vehicle belonged to the victim, who has been identified as 20-year-old Christian Schauer of Marshfield.
Anyone who sees this vehicle should call 911 or the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office at 715-261-1200 immediately, but do not attempt to follow it. Police indicate that the suspect may be armed and dangerous.
According to court records, Schauer has a number of criminal charges in several counties, including multiple charges related to possession, manufacturing or delivering THC. In a press release, police say the injuries he sustained were from that day at an “unknown location.”
No further details have been announced, and a cause of death remains under investigation as an autopsy is being performed on Wednesday.
