MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — As Wisconsin crossed the 160,000 threshold for coronavirus vaccinations Tuesday, seven-day averages for new cases and deaths declined slightly.
The Department of Health Services reported 2,790 new cases on Tuesday, or 42% of the 6,636 total tests done. The state also saw 49 new deaths.
Seven-day averages of new cases declined to 2,827, test positivity to 28.8% and deaths to 33.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 511,136 confirmed cases, more than 2.4 million negative tests and 5,211 deaths. DHS considers 477,460 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the state’s vaccination dashboard showed 163,371 doses administered as of Tuesday. The number allocated to Wisconsin by the federal government increased to 607,650, while the number shipped was at 373,100.
As of Tuesday morning, there were no patients at the alternate care facility near Milwaukee.
Overall hospitalization numbers were expected to be updated later in the afternoon.
