MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The rolling average of new coronavirus cases in Wisconsin continued to drop on Wednesday, while the average of deaths rose a bit.
The state Department of Health Services reported 821 new confirmed cases, or 14.1% of the 5,813 total tests done. The seven-day average of new cases fell to 919, its lowest level since last Sept. 9.
However, the state reported 35 new deaths, pushing the seven-day average up to 25, compared to 22 as of Tuesday.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 551,871 total cases, more than 2.5 million negative tests and 6,129 deaths. DHS considers 531,343 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Also as of Wednesday, the state reported a total of 822,910 vaccine doses administered, with 24,588 of those coming on Tuesday. The number of people having completed their two-dose course of vaccinations was 183,758. Among those 65 and older, 37% had received at least one dose.
