KENOSHA, WI (WSAU) — A judge did not issue a new arrest warrant or increase Kyle Rittenhouse’s bond on Thursday.
Rittenhouse, the 18-year-old accused of killing two people and injuring a third during unrest in Kenosha, is accused of failing to provide his current address to the state, part of the conditions of his $2 million bond.
This comes after a recent court correspondence came back marked “return to sender- unable to forward.” The man living at the apartment listed for Rittenhouse said he had recently rented the unit, and he didn’t know anything about the previous tenant.
According to Rittenhouse’s family, they’ve had to move to a “Safehouse” and cancel all social media because of death threats.
Prosecutors are asking that Rittenhouse be re-arrested and his bond increased by $200,000. Both of those requests were denied.
His defense team says they are willing to turn over the current address on the condition that it stays sealed. Prosecutors say because of the nature of the crimes he’s accused of, the public deserves to know where he is living while he awaits trial.
