The Wisconsin DNR announced this afternoon that the February 2021 wolf hunt is officially closed for the season. All six zones have met their quota as of 3:00 p.m. today. According to the Wisconsin DNR website, so far there have been 178 wolves harvested, but that number could change as hunters are allowed 24 hours to register their wolves.
The total harvest quota of 200 wolves was decided at a Natural Resources Board Special Meeting on February 15th where it was unanimously voted on. Of the 200 wolves, 119 are set aside for the state, and 81 of the wolves are specifically for the Ojibwe Tribes due to the Tribes’ declaration and their treaty rights within the Ceded Territory.
Check the Wisconsin DNR website for the most up-to-date harvest numbers.
