PLOVER, WI (WSAU) — A man has been arrested for shooting and killing another in the early morning hours of February 8th.
Benjamin Smith is facing 10 felony charges in relation to a home invasion in Plover earlier this month. According to a press release from Plover Police Chief Dan Ault, Smith was arrested on February 25th following his release from the hospital where he was recovering from a gunshot wound.
According to police Smith and Zachary Deyo arrived at a Plover residence early on February 8, and were not invited by the homeowner. Deyo sustained a fatal gunshot wound and died on the scene. Police say Smith was also shot and then transported to the hospital.
No charges have been referred for the homeowner or two other victims in the residence at the time of the crime. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing with updates to be provided when possible.
