MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The number of new confirmed coronavirus infections in Wisconsin jumped Tuesday following a dip on Monday.
The state Department of Health Services announced 463 new cases, or 30.9% of the 1,496 tests reported. There were also 29 new deaths.
The rolling seven-day average of new cases increased to 391, with the seven-day average of deaths standing at 10.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 567,334 confirmed cases and 6,510 deaths. DHS lists 554,113 people as having recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.
Wisconsin’s vaccine dose allocation from the federal government crossed the 2 million threshold this week, reaching 2,140,265. Of those, 1,689,505 had been ordered and 215,300 were in transit.
As of Tuesday, 1,739,995 doses had been administered in the state. Of those, 1,088,339 (18.7% of the population) were first doses. The number of people to have completed their vaccination course was 613,542, or 10.5% of the population.
Among people 65 and older, 62.3% had received at least one dose and 32.4% had received their final dose.
On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Hospital Association reported treating 244 COVID-19 patients, 11 fewer than on Monday and 27 fewer than a week earlier. Of those, 63 were in intensive care, up two from Monday and down eight from a week earlier.
Northeast region hospitals reported 30 COVID-19 patients, down five over both a day and a week. Seven of those were in ICUs, down two in a day and three over a week. In the Fox Valley region, there were 13 COVID-19 patients, up two in a day but down one over a week. Two of those were in ICUs, flat over both a day and a week.
