Research from the University of Nevada shows that cactus pears could be a new cash crop for farmers. The University explained that cactus pears may be able to provide food and fuel in areas where they aren’t able to grow many crops due to the climate.
The positive about cactus pears is that they use 80% less water than the average cash crop that farmers grow.
They said that the cactus could be used as a bioenergy crop or to get rid of some of the carbon dioxides in the air. Lastly, you can even eat the plant and count it as a vegetable. The probability of growing cactus pears in Wisconsin is very low, but for some states, it’ll be the perfect cash crop.
