Nominations are being accepted until July 2nd for the 2022 Farm Bureau Farm Dog of the Year contest. This is the fourth year the contest has been happening and it’s worth submitting a dog. The first prize winner gets a year’s worth of Purina dog food and $5,000. There’s also an option for up to four runners-up who would receive $1,000 each.
Farm Bureau’s looking for a dog that’s helpful on the farm, listens to commands and is playful. On some farms, the dogs play a huge role in keeping things in check. The more helpful the dog, the better shot they have at gaining the title of Farm Dog of the Year.
Research even shows that it’s a good idea to have a dog around. Turns out that if you even hang out with a dog for 20 minutes, you can see a spike in oxytocin, which relieves stress.
