MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — New COVID-19 cases remain above average Saturday in Wisconsin, and the state reaches over three million vaccinations administered.
The Department of Health Services reports 706 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday.
While Saturday’s new cases are down from Friday’s 875, they are still above the seven-day average which now reaches 567.
That average is the highest in over a month, where March 2 saw a new case average of 575.
No new cases from more contagious variants were reported Saturday.
The DHS also reports seven new deaths Saturday as the total reaches 6,640.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 579,293 confirmed cases and over 2.7 million negative test results.
The DHS considers 565,209 patients to be recovered from COVID-1, or 98% of all confirmed cases.
With Wisconsin’s vaccination effort, 3,043,564 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered.
The DHS reports 1,899,811 residents have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, or 32.6% of the population.
Over 76% of Wisconsinites 65 and older have received at least one vaccine dose.
The state nears 20% of its population being fully vaccinated as the number now reaches 1,149,956 residents.
