Last week organizers of the World Dairy Expo finalized a decision to keep the event in Madison for 2021, but they made it clear that it had nothing to do with the ten-year contract offered by Dane County.
“We are staying in Madison and that decision really was based on conversations that we were having and the assurance that we have in regards to how we can hold our event in Madison, and really not taking into consideration that contract extension that was proposed by Dane County earlier in the month,” WDE Communications Manager Katie Schmitt said.
The suggested contract includes compensation for any losses due to the expo being canceled last year and hosting the next two years at no cost to WDE. Those in charge say they’ll consider the contract over the coming months and then make a final decision on the fate of Madison hosting the international event.
At least for this year, WDE will be hosted by Dane County at the Aliant Energy Center from September 28th to October 2nd.
