WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A pair of unexpected reptiles was found over the weekend in Wisconsin Rapids.
According to a Facebook post, the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department recovered two baby alligators from a residence. When the alligators were found in the residence by officers, the owner agreed to turn them over to the Humane Society.
The post says, “A couple of candidates stopped in at the WRPD proposing we start a Godzilla Unit and wanted to offer any assistance they could provide. When we asked what they could do, they simply made baby alligator sounds”.
Wisconsin Rapids municipal code does prohibit the ownership of crocodilians, like alligators. The alligators mouths were taped shut for transport to avoid potential injuries.
