An employee at Conagra Foods Packaged Foods in Darien is taking the company to court over the death of his wife. Rigoberto Ruiz claims that he contracted the virus while at Conagra and brought it home to his wife who ended up losing her battle to the virus.
Ruiz says the company failed to follow CDC recommendations and didn’t enforce proper safety precautions such as the use of face masks. According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Ruiz filed the complaint with the Walworth County Circuit Court, while Conagra was trying to get the case moved to the Wisconsin Eastern District Court instead.
In the lawsuit, Ruiz states that the company was “negligent,” which led to his wife’s COVID-19 complications and ultimately, her death on May 5th, 2020. As for Conagra, they deny not following protocols and state that preventative measures were followed.
