WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Central Wisconsin’s Never Forgotten Honor Flight will require all Veterans and guardians to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 once flights resume later this year.
Local leaders of the NFHF say the decision came down from the National Honor Flight organization this week and will remain in place for an undisclosed amount of time.
“Veterans who choose not to be vaccinated (or who are not able to be vaccinated) will remain on our ‘fly list’ until the Honor Flight Network removes this mandatory safety measure, and will then be added to flights in the order that their applications were received,” said officials from NFHF.
Officials add that the decision has been made to keep the safety of the Veterans and guardians at the forefront, and proof of vaccination for all will be required until further notice.
The national Honor Flight organization has extended its moratorium on sanctioned flights through August 15th.
There were no Honor Flights in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic set in. The Central Wisconsin Never Forgotten Honor Flight typically makes four trips each year from CWA in Mosinee to Washington, DC to see the memorials created in their honor.
