MADISON, WI (WRN) – Work on the state budget gets underway at the Capitol this week.
Republicans who control the budget writing Joint Finance Committee have derided much of Democratic Governor Tony Evers’ 91-billion-dollar budget proposal as a liberal wish list.
The budget panel will meet Thursday, and among the first of Evers’ priorities on the GOP chopping block are legalizing medical and recreational marijuana, expanding collective bargaining rights to frontline workers, and expanding Medicaid.
In all, they’ll eliminate about 300 of the governor’s proposals.
