MADISON, WI (METRO) – Wisconsin lost thousands of jobs during the coronavirus shutdown, but a new report says the state didn’t lose as many as our neighbors.
The Wisconsin Policy Forum’s report says Wisconsin saw total jobs fall five-point-two percent over the past year. That’s better than Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota. It’s also better than the national average.
The report says most of the job losses across the country during the shutdown came in tourism and service sector jobs like restaurants.
Those jobs make-up a smaller percent of Wisconsin’s economy than our neighboring states.
