MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin reported its fewest new coronavirus infections in more than two months as a recent trend of decreasing cases continued Monday.
The state Department of Health Services said there were 205 new cases, or 8.9% of the 2,305 people tested. That was the fewest new cases since 178 were reported on March 8. The seven-day average declined to 532, down from 649 on May 2.
No new deaths were connected to COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus. The seven-day average held steady at nine.
Since the pandemic began, DHS has reported 603,303 cases and 6,904 deaths. A total of 588,302 people are considered recovered from COVID-19.
While the pace of vaccinations has continued to slow in recent weeks, 44.4% of Wisconsin’s population (2,586,346 people) had received at least one dose, and 2,179,950 (37.4%) had completed their vaccination series. A total of 4,707,331 doses had been administered as of Monday.
