The Farmer Veteran Coalition announced that they were giving away grants to help new farming veterans. Thanks to the Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund, over 100 farmers are being given equipment to help them succeed. FVC Executive Director Jeanette Lombardo says, “We directly purchase a piece of equipment the farmer has identified as being critical.”
Within the past 11 years that the program has been running, over 700 veterans have been helped with $3.5 million in equipment. This year’s recipients are from almost 40 different states throughout the country.
The equipment ranges from milking systems to water filtrations, cold storage units to greenhouses, and more. The farmers are set to receive the equipment anytime from now through the beginning of summer.
