Introducing the Autonomous Weeder by Carbon Robotics, the newest technology to join the ag industry. The weeding robot can take out 100,000 weeds in an hour, cover 15 to 20 acres every day while being able to work around the clock with the diesel engine.
The almost futuristic technology uses twelve cameras to scan over the ground and only identify the weeds that need to be eliminated. Once the weeds are detected, the robot uses a CO2 laser to kill them.
Some were skeptical of the new product and worried that it may take out a crop or two, but inventors explained that the robot’s equipped with a supercomputer that has millimeter precision so it doesn’t kill any crops.
The Autonomous Weeder 2021 models have already sold out and the company’s taking preorders for the 2022 model. Let’s just say, it’s not cheap with a price tag said to be at least a little over $100,000.
