GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — For the third time in the last 16 seasons, the Green Bay Packers will play a game on Christmas Day.
The Packers will host the Cleveland Browns at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 25 as part of an NFL doubleheader that day. The Packers are 1-1 on Christmas Day since 2005, with both opponents having been the Chicago Bears. The Bears beat the Packers 24-17 at Lambeau Field in 2005, while Green Bay got its revenge six years later with a 35-21 home win.
The Cleveland Browns have never played on Christmas Day.
The Packers will open the 2021 season in New Orleans against the Saints on FOX 11. This is the third consecutive year the Packers will open their season on the road.
The Packers will return home the next week to host the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football. The matchup marks the second consecutive year the Packers will battle the Lions in their home opener. Green Bay won last year’s contest, 42-21.
The Packers will travel to Kansas City to face the defending AFC Champion Chiefs in Week 9. The game was added as part of the NFL’s expansion of the regular season to 17 games. The Packers will host the extra game next season.
The Packers’ bye week comes in Week 13. The team will conclude the regular season on the road against the Lions.
Other schedule highlights include five primetime games, including a Thursday night road game Oct. 28 against the Arizona Cardinals.
