The New York Rangers dismissed head coach David Quinn, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday morning.
Per the New York Post, all of Quinn’s assistants — save for Benoit Allaire — have been let go by new team president and general manager Chris Drury.
The Rangers have yet to publicly comment on Quinn. Drury, in fact, declined to comment on Quinn’s status during his introductory press conference last Thursday.
The Rangers failed to qualify for the playoffs for the fourth straight season after posting a 27-23-6 record in 2020-21. They finished in fifth place in the East Division.
Quinn, 54, owns a 96-87-25 record during his three seasons as coach of the Rangers after taking over for Alain Vigneault to start the 2018-19 campaign.
Quinn served as the head coach of Boston University for the previous five seasons, guiding the school to four NCAA Tournament appearances — including a spot in the 2015 national championship game.
Overall, Quinn posted a 105-68-21 record at Boston University.
