MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WSAU) — Target has joined the list of national retailers dropping mask requirements for employees and shoppers that have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
In a statement posted Monday to their company media page, the big-box store says they will “no longer require fully vaccinated guests and team members to wear face coverings in our stores, except where it’s required by local ordinances.”
The statement adds that face coverings will still be “strongly encouraged” for those who aren’t fully vaccinated. Store staff will also continue their increased safety and cleaning measures.
Last Thursday the CDC announced it was easing mask guidance for those that have received both doses of vaccine from either Moderna or Pfizer, or the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Stores such as Wal-Mart, Trader Joe’s, and Costco then followed up with announcements that they would be easing their mask requirements where allowed by local ordinance.
Target has a handful of locations in Central Wisconsin including Weston, Marshfield, and Stevens Point.
