MADISON, WI (WSAU) — There’s been no formal indication that Governor Tony Evers wants another term in office but he is beginning to put the pieces in place to do just that.
On Wednesday Evers announced the hiring of four staffers including Cassi Fenili as campaign manager. Fenili previously served as Evers’ deputy campaign manager during his 2018 run for Governor and currently serves as a Senior Advisor in Evers’ office.
The Governor also hired the following individuals for his potential campaign staff:
- Haley Barbour, Finance Director
- Atanu Chakravarty, Director of Strategic Initiatives
- Sam Roecker, Communications Director
As of today, there are two declared candidates for Governor on the Republican side including businessman Jonathan Wichmann. A handful of others have expressed interest including former Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and former 7th Congressional District Representative Sean Duffy. Former Trump Chief of Staff Reince Priebus is also said to have kicked the tires on a run for either Governor or the US Senate seat currently held by Ron Johnson.
No Democrats have expressed interest in putting Evers up to a Primary.
