Applications for the 2022 IFYE Exchange program will start being accepted on August 1st this year instead of in November like in years past. The announcement comes after IFYE, formerly the International Farm Youth Exchange had to hold off on the program last year due to the pandemic. Borders were closed and there was too much uncertainty about what was going to happen.
Luckily, things are semi-back to normal and the program can open back up again for next year! Think of the program as a foreign exchange student program, but instead of going to school, you’re going to a farm in a different country to learn about their practices. Even in Wisconsin, every farm does things a little bit differently, so imagine how different it could be across the world.
Any young adults interested in the exchange program can apply on August 1st on the IFYE website. Once you’re on the site, you’ll click on the Outbound Participant Application to start the process. Afterward, applications will be looked at and interviews will be conducted. If approved, each selected individual will go through a four-month orientation process that ends in Washington D.C. prior to leaving for the exchange program.
