WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The city of Wausau has named a new Economic Development Director, one year after Chris Schock retired from the position.
In an email to WSAU news Mayor Katie Rosenberg confirmed that Elizabeth Brodek has been hired for the position. She has previously worked in Wausau as head of the Wausau River District before turning that position over to Blake Opal-Wahoske.
Brodek currently works as the Executive Director of the Historic Downer Avenue Business Improvement District. According to her LinkedIn profile she has also worked for Downtown Eau Claire Inc. since leaving Wausau.
Brodeck will start later this summer.
Chris Schock retired from the Economic Development Director position in June of 2020 to move to Costa Rica with his wife. Since his departure City Planner Brad Lenz has been serving as Interim Economic Development Director. The city also had a Business Development Specialist in Sean Fitzgerald, but he resigned from his post earlier this spring.
