LA CROSSE, WI (WRN) — Touting the need for an infrastructure bill during his appearance Tuesday in La Crosse, President Joe Biden said it includes funding to address the threat of PFAS contamination.
“Here in La Crosse County, just this spring the state had to provide free bottled water to thousands of people on French Island because they were worried about those chemicals in their ground water which were linked to cancer and other illnesses,” Biden told the crowd. “We’ll pay for that. We’ll get that done.”
Biden is hoping to boost support for the proposed $973 billion, bipartisan infrastructure agreement, which is held together in large part by a promise of millions of new jobs.
Biden toured the La Crosse public transit center, and highlighted projects such as hybrid buses and road repair equipment that would receive additional funding through the bill.
