SHAWANO CO, WI (WTAQ) – The Department of Justice is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Shawano County.
The DOJ says a deputy was responding to a crash at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the town of Red Springs.
Officials say a male at the scene had a gun in his hands.
Authorities say the male raised the gun toward the deputy, and that’s when the deputy shot the person.
The male was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No one else was hurt.
The deputy is now on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
