STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A series of anonymously written letters delivered to city leaders regarding culture in the city’s fire department has led to recommended changes following a complete internal review.
The city’s Police and Fire Commission agreed to turn the situation over to an HR consultant, Ed Reed, who spent months creating a ten-page report released just before the holiday weekend.
The letters contained accusations of favoritism, nepotism, and concerns about the temper of some. According to Reed there’s no clear violation of policies but he agrees that management within the department isn’t going in the right direction.
Department released a response to that report saying it doesn’t tell the whole story, saying the report has several half-truths, false accusations, and inconsistencies.
Both sides have been given until the end of the month to begin working with a consultant to solve the problem
