WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Multiple county agencies are teaming up to help those affected by the severe weather on Wednesday night.
A release from Marathon County says several local agencies will be open for the next couple of days to help residents without power from Wednesday night’s storms.
The American Red Cross is holding a reception Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at their location at New Hope Community Church. The reception will allow individuals to charge their phones and enjoy some light snacks.
The Salvation Army at 202 Callon St. in Wausau will be open on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with options to charge devices. They will also be serving lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with bread and produce available as well.
Additionally, the Marathon County Public Library System will have all 11 of its branches open for residents that need to charge devices. Locations and hours of the branches can be found at the Marathon County Public Library’s website.
Residents in need of assistance from yesterday’s severe weather event are encouraged to call 2-1-1 to be connected with community resources. The county also advises that residents stay safe when cleaning up storm damage. If you come across a downed power line, you are not to attempt to move it or bring anything into contact with it.
