BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Brown County is among four in Northeast Wisconsin that are listed as having high coronavirus transmission, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest update. Calumet, Oconto and Menominee counties are also in the same category.
Kewaunee, Door and Marinette counties have moderate transmission. All other counties in the area are listed with substantial transmission.
The update comes as Wisconsin’s seven-day average of confirmed COVID-19 cases hit 1,000 for the first time since Feb. 7. The Department of Health Services reported 1,573 new confirmed cases on Wednesday, the most in a single day since Jan. 27.
The seven-day average test positivity moved to 7.6%, its highest since Jan. 17.
DHS said three deaths reported Wednesday were a result of COVID-19, with the seven-day average remaining at two.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 626,880 confirmed infections and 7,453 deaths.
Vaccinations inched upward, with 3,049,492 Wisconsinites (52.4% of the population) having received at least one dose and 2,886,592 (49.6%) having completed their vaccine series.
