MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin reported the most confirmed COVID-19 deaths in a month in Tuesday’s update from the Department of Health Services.
Six deaths reported Monday were linked to the coronavirus illness, the most since July 8. The seven-day average moved to two per day.
Meanwhile, positive coronavirus tests were the highest since January as the seven-day average moved above 1,100. DHS reported 1,582 new confirmed cases on Monday, the most since Jan. 27. That pushed the seven-day average to 1,101.
Test positivity has shown a decline in recent days, however, as the seven-day average fell to 7.2%, down from 7.7% on Thursday.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 631,750 total cases and 7,459 deaths.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s transmission map listed all Northeast Wisconsin counties in the “high” or “substantial” category, except Florence and Waushara counties, which were listed as “moderate.”
As for vaccinations, 3,075,541 people (52.8% of the population) had received at least one dose and 2,899,325 (49.8%) had completed their vaccine series as of Tuesday.
