The Governor’s Blue Ribbon Livestock Auction took place last week at the Wisconsin State Fair and for the third time in a row, the highest-selling steer went for $47,500. The animal belonged to Tori Crisp of Racine County and was bought by Kenosha Beef International.
The reserve champion steer was shown by Kyle Lois and was sold to Meijer Supermarkets for $22,500. James Tibbits of Iowa County sold the top-selling pig to Beechwood Sales & Service for $16,000. Lastly, Meijer also bought the Grand Champion Lamb for $12,000 from Wesley Berget.
Altogether, the auction sold 25 animals and brought in $303,800. Each exhibitor will get 80% of the selling price and the remaining 20% will go to grants, and scholarships for the kids, as well as auction expenses.
