MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The seven-day rolling average number of deaths in Wisconsin connected to COVID-19 continued to increase Friday.
The state Department of Health Services reported the seven-day average at 13, an increase from the previous day’s 11, and the highest since Feb. 15. There were 24 deaths reported on Thursday.
As previously reported, the date deaths are reported by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is not always the day a patient dies. According to preliminary DHS data, three Wisconsinites died of the Virus on Thursday.
Meanwhile, new case numbers were also up. There were 2,350 new cases reported on Thursday, the most since Jan. 14. The seven-day average increased slightly to 1,538. That average was down from 1,578 on Monday. Test positivity averaged 7.7% over the most recent seven-day period.
Vaccinations reached 55.5% of the population (3,233,643 people) having received at least one dose and 52.2% (3,039,805) having completed their vaccine series.
