MADISON, WI (WLUK) — For the third day in a row, Wisconsin has recorded more than 3,000 cases of COVID-19.
The state Department of Health Services reported 3,172 cases on Thursday, pushing the seven-day average to 2,227. That is up from 1,534 one week earlier.
Test positivity averaged 7.4% for the most recent seven-day period.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention map showed all of Wisconsin, except Florence County, in the “high” category for virus transmission. Florence County was listed as “substantial.”
DHS reported 21 deaths on Thursday, with the seven-day average holding at 13.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 693,717 cases and 7,827 deaths in Wisconsin.
The state closed the work week with 3,262,657 people (56% of the population) having received at least one dose of vaccine and 3,071,904 (52.8%) having completed their vaccine series.
Hospitalizations increased slightly on Friday. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported treating 1,071 COVID-19 patients, five more than on Thursday and 24 more than a week earlier. Of those, 333 were in intensive care, up 11 over both a day and a week.
Northeast region hospitals had 117 COVID-19 patients, eight fewer than on Thursday but 18 more than a week earlier. Of those, 29 were in ICUs, down two in a day and four over a week. In the Fox Valley region, there were 89 COVID-19 patients, two fewer than on Thursday and one more than a week earlier. Seventeen of those were in ICUs, down one over both a day and a week.
