MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The UW Board of Regents announced on Friday that two additional campuses have hit the 70% vaccination threshold against COVID-19.
UW Oshkosh and Whitewater joined the Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Milwaukee campuses at that key mark in the “70 for 70” challenge, meaning vaccinated students at all five of those campuses are now eligible to win a $7,000 scholarship.
Additionally, the UW System has announced it is extending the deadline for campuses to reach 70% vaccination through October 31st. Giving other campuses more time to bring their numbers up.
The UWSP campus currently sits at 49%, UWGB reports 58% of their students have taken the shots. UW-Stout and River Falls could hit the mark soon, both report more than 60% of students have been vaccinated.
Should a campus not attain 70% vaccination by the end of October, their $7,000 scholarships will be divided up among those campuses that did reach the mark.
The UW Madison campus is not participating in the “70 for 70” challenge. At last check, their vaccination rate was over 93%.
