MERRILL, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Merrill Area School District is setting stricter guidelines for quarantined students.
The district posted a statement from the Lincoln County Health Department on its Facebook Tuesday, effective Monday.
It says students that are listed as “quarantined” are not allowed access to any school building, lot, or extracurricular activity until they’ve finished their quarantine.
Merrill Superintendent John Sample tells WAOW-TV that as long as they are in “pandemic mode,” they will have the initiative in effect.
Other rural school districts have tried to allow asymptomatic close-contact students to return to school. Those policies have been challenged by some county health departments.
