Non-profit Farm Rescue reaches a milestone this fall by helping their 800th farm family during a time of need. The organization went to North Dakota to harvest soybeans for Eugene and Katie Birklid after Eugene had undergone brain surgery for the second time within the past year in late August.
“I was very worried about how we were going to do harvest this fall. My friends told me that I should apply for Farm Rescue,” Katie said. “At first I was scared to ask for help because it’s hard for me to ask for help, but I just decided that we need to do this and the process was easy and so, it’s been a huge relief.”
Eugene and his family were very grateful for the help of Farm Rescue and he said that overall, this year’s harvest has been pretty good.
Farm Rescue helps assist farm or ranch families that are experiencing a major illness, injury, or natural disaster. The organization assisted its very first family in 2006.
