HOUSTON, TX (MetroSource-WSAU) — The Houston Astros are starting the ALDS off with a big win. Lance McCullers Jr. fired six and two thirds scoreless innings as the Astros took down the White Sox 6-1 in Game One in Houston.
Yordan Alvarez homered for Houston. The Astros take a 1-0 series lead.
Lance Lynn struggled as he allowed five runs over three and two thirds to take the loss for the White Sox. Jose Abreu drove in the lone run for Chicago.
ST PETERSBURG, FLA (MetroSource-WSAU) — The Rays are taking a 1-0 lead in the ALDS over the Red Sox. The Rays shut out the Red Sox 5-0 in Game One in St. Petersburg.
Shane McClanahan was credited with the win after pitching five scoreless innings. Nelson Cruz and Randy Arozarena hit home runs for Tampa Bay. Arozarena was also able to steal home off Red Sox reliever Josh Taylor.
Eduardo Rodriguez started the game for Boston and allowed a pair of runs in an inning-and-two-thirds. Nick Pivetta allowed three runs in four-and-two-thirds of relief.
The Rays will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the series in Game Two when Shane Baz gets the ball against Chris Sale.
